What is the use of COLUMN function?

COLUMN Function in Excel returns the column number of the given reference

What is the syntax of COLUMN function?

COLUMN( reference)
reference : reference to find column number

COLUMN Function in Excel – Examples

Example 1: returns column number of the cell B14 (i.e; B=2)
Example 2: returns column number of the cell A14 (i.e; E=5)
Example 3: returns column number of the cell AB16 (i.e; AB=28)
Example 4: if you miss the argument it will return the column number of the cell where you have written the formula.
