Excel 2003 is part of MS Office 2003 developed by Microsoft. Excel is a Windows Spreadsheet Application for performing simple calculations and developing complex applications.
Object Model of Excel 2003:
The main Objects of Excel are Excel Workbook, Worksheet, Range, Charts and Pivot Table. We can create new workbook, we can add new worksheet and we can enter data in the Ranges.
Charts and Pivot Tables helps to summarize the data in Table format and create the visual representation of the data. There are many types of charts available in Excel, for example, bar chart, pie chart, column chart and line chart.
Excel 2003 Limitations:
Excel 2003 is limited to 65,536 rows and 256 columns. So, we can enter the data in maximum of 65536 records and We can have maximum of 256 Fields in 2003 version of MS Excel. We can have more rows and columns in the new/next versions of the Microsoft Excel
Format of Excel 2003 files:
We can save the Excel Files with different extensions. Each extension of Excel is created for different purposes.
.xls Excel File Format: This is the default Excel File format, when we save the file in Excel 2003this will save as .xls file format. This is the normal spreadsheet to save the data, formulas and Macros.
.xlt Excel File Format: This is Excel Template File format, we can create spreadsheet with all required formats and save it as Excel Template. So that we can use it again when we need the same format of the template.
.xla Excel File Format: This is Excel add-in File format, we can develop the Excel workbook with most useful macros and save it as Excel Add-in. We can develop Excel Add-in to re-use the macros whenever we need them.
Important Tools in Excel 2003:
Formulas: Excel 2003 formulas helps the user to perform calculation in the cells of Excel sheets.
Filtering : We can filter the data in Excel 2003 using Data Filter tools from Excel Menu.
Sorting: We can also sort data by any column using Data Sorting commands in the Excel Menu.
